Rains Approaching

Rain clouds pass over the valley section of the Kharghar Hills at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.

The rains seemingly made an early entrance this year due to the ongoing cyclone situation in the Arabian Sea. Though much of the rains were passing and there has hardly been any consistency, the area had already felt the effect with the earth becoming supple and mushy, dry and burnt grass turning fresh and small but vibrant green shrubs peeping from everywhere.

Monsoon in the hills is a sight to be reckoned with!

A group of greater flamingos take flight during noon, making their way towards the next destination for the day after a brief halt at the backwaters in Seawoods, Navi Mumbai.

A flock of flamingos make the final descend to join the rest at the backwaters in Seawoods, Navi Mumbai.

Watching these birds fly in from miles away, making formations with such discipline, precision and perfection, finally landing in the pond to join the rest of the troupe is an experience to be reckoned with. After watching their landing procedure, it was clear from where our aircraft had derived theirs. Nature is possibly the only thing we need to learn from to live our lives to the fullest.

A flock for Lesser and Greater Flamingos gather during noon at the holding ponds at Seawoods, Navi Mumbai.

It had been a while since I last visited the site. And given the immense heat and we witnessed this summer, I didn’t expect any birds in the region. But my joy had no bounds when I saw these magnificent beings come down from the skies in large numbers, electrifying the whole area with their sounds and vibrant colors during this time of the day when I would love to stay indoors.

Divine Chaos

The universe is chaotic. There is something or the other happening in some part of it, each and every moment.

Though some find peace in this very chaos, ‘most’ see it as an obstacle to ‘peace’.

A very few from the ‘most’ set out to restore order and bring that peace to the world.

Finally an insignificant fraction of this ‘very few’ come to a point only to realize that this very peace and order they sought coexisted in the same chaos they wanted to run from and set order to.

Though by now this revelation would have been a journey of a lifetime, the wisdom from it was worth the effort.

Chaos and peace have been two side of the same coin, coexisting ever since. Chaos is just as beautiful as peace is. And always will be.

Blue Tiger’s Morning Catch

A Blue Tiger Butterfly collects its share of breakfast amongst a grove at the Parsik Hills Range, Kharghar.

With the monsoon having made a complete retreat, the skies are pretty cloudless during dawn causing much of the area to flood with sunlight that gives a much vibrant shade to the entire region. And the fact that much of this place is still quite green, most images pop without much effort 🙂

Back to the Base

It had been a long time since I visited the area for a shoot or trek. Delighted about the fact that the hills and monsoon had kept their word by transforming the place into this green paradise I always knew of, I hopped around and scouted the location, finally settling at this small holding pond created by a steam coming downhill through the main valley.

Though the rains were passing rather than being continuous (a blessing in disguise) the place looked fresh as ever, emitting those same mystical vibes I felt each and every time I was around.

Lunar Magic

Lunar Magic

This image was made during the total Lunar Eclipse of 2018. This particular lunar eclipse was special for the fact that it was also a super blue blood moon, a coincidence that last occurred about 36 years ago.

Though I missed the whole cycle, I managed to get one shot right just for the memory. But it sure was a call for my long awaited dream to shoot Astrophotography and to restart my passion of keenly watching these celestial occurrences and magic.
And whether it is a lunar eclipse or not, the moon was and is always a mesmerizing dream to stare and get lost into…
