Viewing the Distance

A Panoramic View of the Kharghar Valley from a vantage point on the Parsik Hills Range one fine winter morning.

Though the view looks captivating (even more in person), I wished I could have been here before the concrete jungles and the ‘tamed wastelands’ dotted the scene. Yes there is development and the comfort that comes with it, but there is nothing can match or equate the rawness and peace that comes bundled with nature. And had I never enjoyed, understood and acknowledge that fact, I wouldn’t have made this picture anyway…

Viewing the Distance

An aerial view of the Kharghar Valley from one of the highest point on the Parsik Hills range one fine winter morning.

Though the view looks captivating (even more in person), I wished I could have been here before the concrete jungles and the ‘tamed wastelands’ dotted the scene. Yes there is development and the comfort that comes with it, but there is nothing can match or equate the rawness and peace that comes bundled with nature. Divine Chaos

The universe is chaotic. There is something or the other happening in some part of it, each and every moment.

Though some find peace in this very chaos, ‘most’ see it as an obstacle to ‘peace’.

A very few from the ‘most’ set out to restore order and bring that peace to the world.

Finally an insignificant fraction of this ‘very few’ come to a point only to realize that this very peace and order they sought coexisted in the same chaos they wanted to run from and set order to.

Though by now this revelation would have been a journey of a lifetime, the wisdom from it was worth the effort.

Chaos and peace have been two side of the same coin, coexisting ever since. Chaos is just as beautiful as peace is. And always will be.

Back to the Base

It had been a long time since I visited the area for a shoot or trek. Delighted about the fact that the hills and monsoon had kept their word by transforming the place into this green paradise I always knew of, I hopped around and scouted the location, finally settling at this small holding pond created by a steam coming downhill through the main valley.

Though the rains were passing rather than being continuous (a blessing in disguise) the place looked fresh as ever, emitting those same mystical vibes I felt each and every time I was around.

Staring into the Distance

A myna perches on the terrace of a building during sunset before heading back to its nest.

Standing Tall

A black kite perches on the heights of a building before making it’s way back to its nest during a rather chilly evening in Mumbai.

As imposing as they can get, these birds of prey hold a special place in my heart. They may look intimidating for most but a few experiences with them and one will realize that they are just as fun, silly, mysterious and amazing like any other creature in the animal kingdom. They too have their sets of victories, failures, challenges and finally that one thing that really binds us all together – the ultimate cycle of life and death.
To witness such a majestic being in a fragile state would be a rather heartbreaking sight. But the final moments it flies through its last days, with wounds and holes over its once majestic body, with the same pride and honor that it always carried along is one sight to witness and remember.

On the Powl

Husband Kittu makes a move with a rather animated yawn after I busted his ‘yet again unsuccessful’ stalking attempt on me at the parking lot as I headed back home.

Cats are amazing creatures. They always have this wild predator instinct running through them no matter they are feral or pet. Thus they are very likely to survive and hunt for themselves even if they are off human supplies and intervention. To make the matter more interesting, regardless the type of feline, they all seem to share similar hunting and stalking techniques that they use to procure their prey (with varying degrees of success). Each move they make with robotic precision is just as thrilling as it gets.
To be honest, the small dudes pack more punch and walk around with much greater attitude than the big cats. And being able to cuddle one without the ‘immediate’ threat of being mauled by is just amazing!

Mornin’ High

An army of Ants scale and attend to the tender leaves of a bush during sunrise at Seawoods.

Ants are one the best examples of teamwork, selflessness and dedication in the natural world that I am personally aware of. The amount of work they do with the precision they possess is hysterical indeed. One could learn great lessons of teamwork and management from these little soldiers just by tuning in into their schedule. But make sure you have the time – even one brief moment of your absence and they vanish without a trace!

Each scout a pawn takes is potential death is disguise. But that does not stop them, as they seem to be aware of the fact that whether it is life or death, it is for the greater good and that the whole existence of their kingdom depends on their actions, which they perform dedicatedly.

Thus even the smallest link is equally strong and important as the largest one.

An Evening to Remember

Chaos, amidst the cold silence

A feeling of fullness, all within none

Thrill, that would very much kill

Retracing the steps that were once feared for being the unknown

Taking that leap of faith with the mirage of a goal in your head, but never in your heart

And finally, embracing something from where it all started from – the darkness

An evening, well spent…
